Abstract:

Background

The Endobutton technique for coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction does not require removal of the internal material and the surgical incision is small. Previous studies have shown that the use of Endobutton can achieve satisfactory short-term results. However, there is still a lack of clinical data to provide vital medical evidence for the long-term follow-up. Objective To investigate the long-term clinical effect of Endobutton internal fixation with loop plate and clavicular hook plate in treating Rockwood III acromioclavicular dislocation.

Methods

From January 2015 to December 2017,74 patients with Rockwood Type III acromioclavicular joint dislocation were retrospectively analyzed. The Endobutton was fixed with a loop plate in 25 cases and a clavicular hook plate in 49 cases. Differences in visual simulation score, shoulder function score, excellent and good rate of shoulder function, and complications between the two groups were observed and compared.

Results

There was no significant difference between the two groups in visual simulation score, shoulder function score (Constant-Murley score) , excellent and good rate of shoulder function, or incidence of complications (P>0.05) . The Endobutton group was significantly superior to the clavicular hook plate group (P<0.05) .

Conclusion

Endobutton internal fixation with loop plate is a suitable method for treating Rockwood III dislocation with better long-term results and fewer postoperative complications. It is worth popularizing and applying in the clinic.

Key words: Dislocation of acromioclavicular joint, Endobutton loop plate, Rockwood classification, Clavicular hook plate
